I’m so excited to share my first ever YouTube video with you and would love to hear you thoughts on it so please check it out :)
In this post I thought i would tell you a bit about the process behind the scenes, and how long it actually took for me to get to the point where I actually dared to hit upload and share this video on the internet.
Almost exactly a year ago I sat down in front of my camera to record my ever first YouTube video. Well, things didn’t go to plan and I encountered a massive wall of challenges. Challenges like how to be natural in front of the camera. trying not to start every sentence with “so”, and just figuring out all the techinical bits around film making (there are so many, yikes!).
But stubborn as I am, I kept banging my head into that wall for a good month or so, but after having spent a whole day out in the -10 celsius Winter filming stuff that I still wasn’t happy with, I decided that now was not the time for my YouTube debut. So, I put it on pause.
A year later I decided it was time to try again. I encountered all the same struggles again this time, but now I had more stuff to say and that I wanted to talk about in my videos, and better equipment to record myself.
I still had to practice *a lot* to feel any kind of comfortable and confident in front of the camera, but you know, after about a gazillion times hitting that feeling of this is never going to work, it started to work :)
So, what i want to say with this little post is, that sometimes it is better to take put a project on hold and get back to it when the time feels more right, And, even if you have all that motivation and energy to start something new, it can still take a very long time from getting the idea to the final execution of it.
It gets messy and frustrating and you’ll probably want to give up many many times in the process. But, persistence and being a bit of a stubborn donkey has it’s payoff and will reward you in the end.
So if you’re starting something new, I feel your struggles and know that I’ll be cheering you on and sending you lots of determination power here from my side of cyberspace :)
Have you ever had the ambition to start something new, but then decided the time was not right and put in on pause?
